Finish Durability On Landscape Edging
Paint Vs. Powder Coating
As a staple in the industry, powder coating has proven to be one of the most popular paint applications for steel landscape edging. What powder coating does well is extend the life of the metal that has been coated.
When the coating is cured it develops into a durable and hard finish. This extra layer of protection helps protect against corrosion, heat, wear-and-tear, weather, and everyday scratches. Although it looks like a common 2-coat paint application, powder coating provides a beautiful layer of protection that is unrivaled by liquid paint.
Limitations of liquid paint
- Paint is more susceptible to scratching and chipping
- It is less durable
- Premature corrosion from weather conditions
- Prone to drips and runs.
- Â Painting is available when edging needs to be colored inexpensively.
Benefits of powder coating
- Better resistance: Powder coating creates a non-porous surface shield that is more resistant than traditional liquid paints, which means that your powder-coated edging will be able to withstand even the most unforgiving environments.
- More Durability: Powder coating results in a thicker, more durable surface coverage which can lasts up to three times longer than traditional painting.
- Powder coating is preferred when a durable, beautiful, protective finish is desired on landscape edging.
